The founder of Renovatio PR, Mr. Collins is an esteemed businessman and resident of Puerto Rico. He is an active entrepreneur currently involved in successful and innovative ventures such as Matrix Global Holdings, the first crude oil storage auction platform, M2 Infrastructure, a developer of large energy storage infrastructure, and other related entities.
A master of financial trading and respected fintech professional, Mr. Collins launched Renovatio PR as an incubator initiative to utilize innovative solutions such as cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to improve infrastructure development, physical logistics, financial trading and exchange clearing.
Mr. Collins served as president of the New York Mercantile Exchange (then the largest commodities exchange in the world) from 2001-2004. During that time, he led NYMEX to an initial S&P credit rating of A++, its recognition by Energy Risk magazine as the 2004 “Exchange of the Year,” and its creation of Clearport Clearing, the first commercially successful OTC clearing platform. He also founded MotherRock, an initially successful $500 million hedge fund specializing in energy derivatives trading that closed in 2006 as a result of a highly publicized market manipulation by Amaranth, another large energy market participant.
In 2008, in partnership with NASDAQ, Mr. Collins was a founding partner in a new clearinghouse, the International Derivatives Clearing Group (IDCG), which was recently sold to LCH Clearnet.
Before leading NYMEX, Mr. Collins served as senior vice president at El Paso Merchant Energy, where he was the head derivatives trader in natural gas and led the trading team to earn more than $1 billion in annual net income (2000). He has also served as an options market maker on the trading floor at NYMEX and worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Mr. Collins has a proven track record working with public private partnerships with the National Futures Association and American Museum of Natural History, and has worked closely with government authorities in providing critical services during crises such as 9/11.
